It infers the footprints of molecular evolution in the cell interior for a property common to all life forms. It is deducted that molecular crowding is a vital cellular trait common to the all types of cells (primitive or highly evolved). It is argued that this trait is pervasive and must have been incorporated at some stage as a common vital feature of life. If this feature has central importance it must have been part of the pre-biotic information growth of information bearing molecules. The thermodynamic consequences of molecular crowding on the growth of RNA (50100bp long) in the absence of enzyme system were calculated.

Structural Characteristics of Stable Folding Intermediates of Yeast Iso-1-Cytochrome-c
Cytochrome-c (cyt-c) is an electron transport protein, and it is present throughout the evolution. More than 280 sequences have been reported in the protein sequence database (www.uniprot.org). Though sequentially diverse, cyt-c has essentially retained its tertiary structure or fold. Thus a vast data set of varied sequences with retention of similar structure and fun...
متن کاملMolecular Crowding Inhibits U-Insertion/Deletion RNA Editing In Vitro: Consequences for the In Vivo Reaction
Mitochondrial pre-mRNAs in African trypanosomes are edited to generate functional transcripts. The reaction is typified by the insertion and deletion of U nucleotides and is catalyzed by a macromolecular complex, the editosome. Editosomes bind pre-edited mRNA/gRNA pairs and the reaction can be recapitulated in vitro by using pre-mRNA- and gRNA-mimicking oligoribonucleotides together with enrich...
متن کاملDenatured State Structural Property Determines Protein Stabilization by Macromolecular Crowding: A Thermodynamic and Structural Approach
Understanding of protein structure and stability gained to date has been acquired through investigations made under dilute conditions where total macromolecular concentration never surpasses 10 g l(-1). However, biological macromolecules are known to evolve and function under crowded intracellular environments that comprises of proteins, nucleic acids, ribosomes and carbohydrates etc. Crowded e...

Cultivated plants have been selected by humans for increased yield in a relatively benign environment, where nutrient and water resources are often supplemented, and biotic enemy loads are kept artificially low. Agricultural weeds have adapted to this same benign environment as crops and often have high growth and reproductive rates, even though they have not been specifically selected for yiel...
متن کاملSocial Crowding during Development Causes Changes in GnRH1 DNA Methylation
Gestational and developmental cues have important consequences for long-term health, behavior and adaptation to the environment. In addition, social stressors cause plastic molecular changes in the brain that underlie unique behavioral phenotypes that also modulate fitness. In the adult African cichlid, Astatotilapia burtoni, growth and social status of males are both directly regulated by soci...
